On April 2, 2010 a special room for children – participants of the criminal process was opened. Two rooms are connected by a large one-side glass. In the first room there are toys, soft furniture, which creates a cozy atmosphere. A psychologist will work with a child there. In another room, behind an opaque glass, there will be the accused and his counsel. Human rights organization “Human being and Law” managed to open this room for children in Mari El Republic. Children, who are beaten by parents, will be interrogated in this room. The situation, concerning home violence, is very difficult in Mari El Republic. According to official information, 120 children became victims of home violence in the Republic. Human rights defenders are sure that it will be easier to find reasons of home violence and ways of its solution in this room.
