March 15, 2010 year. A training group of RPO “Human being and Law”, which consists of Sergey Poduzov and Nikolay Gusakov, opens a seminar “Work with people from places of detention without violations of human rights”. The seminar is held for the staff of the Federal Service of Penal Executions in Tver region.
During the next four days two seminars will be held for the staff of the Federal Service of Penal Executions in Rzhev and Torzhok. Thus, about 100 employees of the penitentiary system of Tver region will take part in seminars, organized by RPO “Human being and Law”.
Seminars are conducted within the framework of the project “Implementation of international standards of the work with convicts and people, released from places of detention, in Russian practice”. The project is supported by the Danish Institute for Human Rights.
The project covers four regions of Russia (Republic of Chuvashia, Mari El, Vladimir and Tver regions) and aims at the work with staff and convicts of penal colonies on the territory of above-mentioned regions.
According to the words of the chairman of RPO “Human being and Law” Sergey Poduzov, the audience is very interested in the proposed material. This interest is also reinforced by the reform of the penal system.

The target groups of the project are not only the employees of Federal Service of Penal Executions and prisoners themselves, but also public organizations if their activities are connected with closed institutions.
- The project aims at establishment of collaboration and involves the exchange of experience of the work of NGOs and Federal Service of Penal Executions in promotion of the idea of observation of the rights of convicts. So, our attention is directed not at human rights NGOs, but also at public organizations, which work with closed institutions, – says the chairwoman of PPO “Human being and Law” Irina Simakova.
